  8. What happens if the teen wants to renegotiate the supervision level? A real renegotiation flow indicates a system designed for the relationship, not just the technology.

Before your teen uses any AI:

  • Have a 15-minute conversation about which AI tools they already use, and what for

At what age can my teen start using AI? There is no single right answer. Between 10 and 12, with active supervision, teens can start interacting with AI tools designed for their age. The variable that matters most is not the exact age but the context: supervised access, an open family conversation, and a working alert mechanism.
