Schools and families: let's build accompanied use of AI together
Today: information for families. Proposed: training and a school pilot. Alerts always go to the responsible adult the family links, never to the school.
Many teenagers already use AI chatbots — for homework, out of curiosity, for company — and most of those tools were not designed with them in mind.
HolaNolis is a conversational AI for children, teens and young people aged 10 to 20, with transparent family supervision. We offer a family support model, and we want to explore with the education community how to teach young people to use AI critically, gradually and in an age-appropriate way. If you work with teenagers — a school, a parent association, a psychology, paediatric or counselling practice — here is what we can do together and what stage each option is at.

A. Information and support for families
- You let families know about HolaNolis (a newsletter, a talk, a recommendation during a consultation). Each family decides whether to use it and manages its own account.
- The school receives no accounts, conversations or alerts, and does not share any pupil data with us.
- Alerts go to the responsible adult the family links, never to the school. If the school learns of a risk situation through its own channels, it follows its usual protocols.
- It is a family service: it does not mean classroom deployment, integration with your platforms or approval by any public authority.

B. AI training for teachers and families
- We would like to prepare sessions with you for teaching staff and families: how AI models work and fail, checking sources, privacy, bias, habits and critical thinking.
- We don't have a set programme or dates yet: if you're interested, we'll design it together.
- Training teachers or families does not mean giving pupils HolaNolis accounts.
Being explored
C. School pilot
- We want to explore, with schools and education teams, a pilot of accompanied AI use, with teacher supervision, learning goals, a limited duration and independent evaluation.
- For a first proposal in Catalonia and Spain we would start with pupils aged 14 to 17: a cautious design choice, subject to institutional review — not a universal legal age. Other countries would need their own adaptation.
- With under-14s we would propose training and materials without pupil accounts, within each education authority's rules.
- It would keep school and family data separate, limit access and never assess pupils automatically.
- In mixed-age groups, the rule for the youngest pupil would apply.
What HolaNolis does not offer today
- No teacher dashboard or classroom management.
- No school licences or integration with education platforms.
- No education reports or pupil assessment.
- No alerts to teachers or the school.
- No round-the-clock human monitoring of conversations.
- No diagnosis or therapy, and no replacing counsellors or health professionals: it detects, alerts the family and points to a trusted adult.

Questions from schools and professionals
Can it be used inside a school?
Not as a classroom tool today. HolaNolis is a family service that each family chooses to use and manages itself. Use inside a school would be a school pilot, which we are still exploring.
Can pupils under 14 use it?
It depends on the setting and the country. At home, HolaNolis is designed for young people from age 10, always with a responsible adult linked to the account. At school, each education authority sets its own rules: for example, the Government of Catalonia (Spain) announced on 22 September 2026 that pupils under 14 will not use AI directly in schools. That is why, for under-14s, our school proposal is limited to training, with no pupil accounts.
Is parental permission enough to use it in class?
No. School use also depends on the education authority's rules, the legal basis for processing data, the technology providers and the school's own conditions (for example, a data processing agreement and an impact assessment). A family's permission does not replace any of that.
Who receives the alerts?
In family use, the responsible adult the family links to the account. Never the school or the professional who recommended the service. A school pilot would need its own protocol, defined together with the school.
Can teachers see family conversations?
No. The school has no access to family accounts. A future school version would need to keep school and family spaces separate and limit access to the minimum necessary.
Is it officially approved or accredited?
No. HolaNolis is not accredited or endorsed by any education authority. Initiatives such as the Spanish Government's AI360 Plan (September 2026) open the door to collaboration, but they do not authorise or accredit specific tools.
