How to install HolaNolis

Three steps depending on your device. Under a minute.

HolaNolis is an installable web app (PWA) — no App Store or Google Play required. You install it straight from your browser; it takes very little space and updates automatically.

iPhone / iPad (iOS Safari)

  1. Open app.holanolis.com in Safari (this does not work in Chrome on iPhone).
  2. Tap the Share button (square with an upward arrow, in the bottom centre).
  3. Scroll and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Confirm the name "HolaNolis" and tap Add.
  5. Open the app from the new icon. The first time you enter, you'll be asked for permission to send notifications — tap Allow to receive alerts.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open app.holanolis.com in Chrome.
  2. You'll likely see an "Add to Home screen" banner automatically. If so, tap Install.
  3. If you don't see it, tap the menu (top-right) → Install app or Add to Home screen.
  4. Open the app from the new icon. Tap Allow when prompted for notifications.

Desktop (Chrome / Edge)

  1. Open app.holanolis.com.
  2. In the address bar, look for the Install app icon on the right (a screen with a downward arrow), or use ⋮ → Install HolaNolis.
  3. Confirm. The app opens in its own window and a shortcut is added to your system.
  4. Allow notifications when the browser asks.

Turn on notifications

Notifications are the fastest way to learn about an important alert. If you accidentally declined them:

  • iPhone: Settings → Notifications → find HolaNolis → toggle "Allow Notifications".
  • Android: Settings → Apps → HolaNolis → Notifications → enable.
  • Chrome / Edge: padlock to the left of the URL → Notifications → allow.

You allowed notifications but they're not arriving

This is the most common complaint and it's almost always your operating system's battery optimisation killing background apps — not a HolaNolis bug. Follow the steps for your device.

Android — cause #1: battery optimisation

Android freezes background apps to save battery, which blocks notification delivery.

  1. Remove battery optimisation for Chrome (and HolaNolis if installed as an app):
Settings → Apps → Chrome (and/or HolaNolis) → Battery → Unrestricted (or "Allow background activity").
  2. Disable system battery saver while you test whether notifications arrive.
  3. Check OS-level notifications: Settings → Notifications → find Chrome and HolaNolis → both set to "Allowed".
  4. Allow auto-start (only on brands with their own skin):
    • Xiaomi / Redmi (MIUI / HyperOS): Settings → Apps → Permissions → Autostart → enable Chrome and HolaNolis. Also Background task lock → disable for both.
    • Huawei / Honor (EMUI / MagicOS): Settings → Battery → App launch → find Chrome → turn off "Manage automatically" → enable "Auto-launch", "Secondary launch" and "Run in background".
    • OPPO / Realme / OnePlus (ColorOS / OxygenOS): Settings → Battery → Background battery usage → set Chrome and HolaNolis to "Allow".
    • Samsung (One UI): Settings → Apps → Chrome → Battery → "Unrestricted". Then Settings → Device care → Battery → Never sleeping apps → add Chrome and HolaNolis.

iPhone / iPad — prerequisites

Apple push notifications only work when all three are true:

  1. HolaNolis is installed on the Home Screen (just opening it in Safari is not enough).
  2. Your iPhone runs iOS 16.4 or later. Check Settings → General → About → Software Version.
  3. You allowed notifications the first time the app asked.

If all of that is set and you still get nothing:

  • Focus / Do Not Disturb mode can silence them. Check Control Centre (swipe from the top-right).
  • Low Power Mode throttles background activity. Disable it in Settings → Battery while testing.
  • App-level notifications: Settings → Notifications → find HolaNolis → enable "Allow Notifications", "Sounds" and "Banners".

Desktop (Chrome / Edge)

  • Chrome must be running (at least in the background) or installed as an app to receive notifications when you're not actively browsing.
  • In the address bar open chrome://settings/content/notifications and confirm app.holanolis.com is under "Allowed".
  • If the OS-level Do Not Disturb is on (Windows Focus Assist / macOS Do Not Disturb), notifications won't surface even though they arrive.

If none of the above works

  1. Reinstall the PWA: delete it from the icon and install it again following the steps above.
  2. Allow notifications the first time the app asks.
  3. Trigger a test by asking your child to send Nolis a quick hello message — you should be notified.
